DRIVER ALERT: SCHOOL’S OUT FOR THE SUMMER!
Kids everywhere are rejoicing that school is out, but this raises a safety alert for drivers. It means that there are more kids playing in the streets during the day and later into the night. It also means that there are more inexperienced drivers on the roads during these same hours as teens take advantage of summer free time. Now is the time for drivers to be more vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN? LOGISTICS LEXICON
This month in our Logistics Lexicon series, we’re talking about first-in, first-out (FIFO). FIFO is an inventory management strategy that requires product to be used in chronological order from its arrival to a facility. Essentially, the first items ordered/warehoused are those which are sold first. This is applicable in most cases regardless of the inventory shelf life and is commonly found in warehouses with a variety of SKUs. FIFO is contrary to LILO (last-in, last-out) whereby inventory that comes in first, is also dispatched first.

FUEL SURCHARGE NOW UPDATED WEEKLY
In March we began updating our fuel surcharge weekly. The surcharge matrix and calculation will remain exactly the same. The weekly surcharge is based on the national average price of fuel from the previous Monday, as reported by the Department of Energy. (Please refer to the Weekly Retail Gasoline and Diesel Prices: US index, for regular gas.) You can find a table illustrating the surcharge here. As always, Blue Streak’s fuel surcharge remains among the lowest in the region.
