WHAT DOES IT MEAN? LOGISTICS LEXICON
We’re starting a new series in our monthly newsletter called “Logistics Lexicon” to help our customers understand the acronyms, terms, and phrases they might see related to transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. First up is 3PL.
Third-party logistics, or 3PL, allows you to outsource operational logistics services, from warehousing to delivery, so you’re able to focus on other parts of your business. Third-party logistics providers have the expertise and leverage to make supply chain management simpler, quicker, and more cost effective for you. 3PLs offer any number of services having to do with logistics, such as purchasing, inventory management, warehousing, transportation management, and order management. A 3PL can provide a single service or multiple services that extend across all aspects of your supply chain.
Blue Streak offers a range of 3PL services and can create a scalable, customized plan to best meet your specific logistics needs. Please contact us for more information.
FUEL SURCHARGE WILL INCREASE IN MARCH
Because of an increase in fuel charges in the past month nationwide, Blue Streak’s fuel surcharge will increase to 5.5% in March. Our fuel surcharge continues to be among the lowest in the region.
How it’s calculated: If the national average price of regular unleaded fuel* is above $1.79 during the last week of any given month, the surcharge will be in effect on the first day of the following month.
*As reported by the US Department of Energy.
