April 2020 Blue’s News
This is a challenging time, and we want you to know that serving our customers while ensuring the safety and well-being of the Blue Streak team is our priority. Blue Streak is considered an essential business and may continue to operate under state of emergency and shelter-in-place orders issued in the U.S.
For now, Blue Streak is fully operational and committed to our part in supporting the supply chain.
We are taking all necessary precautions in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. We will continue as safely and prudently as possible, focusing on our customers and meeting their needs as best we can until this pandemic subsides. As a result, Blue Streak has implemented some changes to our processes.
Blue Streak is relaxing its delivery commitment guarantees. Some of our customers have either suspended operations or are operating on reduced schedules, thus decreasing the volume of shipments flowing into our network. As such, not all our normal distribution routes will be dispatched every day. We need to operate delivery routes as effectively as possible, so there may be an extra day time in transit for some deliveries. We will endeavor to limit any delays to one business day. This flex routing will enable us to account for shrinking volume, generate maximum delivery volume and allow for more efficiency during this unprecedented time in history.
Additionally, delivery service has been suspended in the following markets, effective March 25, 2020:
Charleston, South Carolina
New Orleans, Louisiana
Lastly, we understand you may not feel comfortable using our handheld devices to sign for your deliveries. As an alternative, please feel to use your own pen and sign on the package (close to the delivery address, along with your printed first initial, last name, the date and time). Blue Streak will then take a picture of the label and attach it to the order in our system for proof of delivery.
We are fully focused on prevention, containment and recovery, and will continue to provide our customers with the service they have come to expect from us.
FUEL SURCHARGE TO DECREASE IN APRIL
Because of a decrease in fuel charges in the past month nationwide, Blue Streak’s fuel surcharge will decrease to 1.5% in April. Our fuel surcharge continues to be among the lowest in the region.
How it’s calculated: If the national average price of regular unleaded fuel* is above $1.79 during the last week of any given month, the surcharge will be in effect on the first day of the following month.
*As reported by the US Department of Energy.
