DON’T FORGET TO SPRING FORWARD MARCH 8TH

Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins Sunday, March 8, 2015. The official time you should change your clocks begins at 2 a.m. early on Sunday morning when most computer and electronic clocks will automatically reset themselves and jump one hour ahead. So instead of 2 a.m., the clocks will show 3 a.m.

Daylight Saving Time is a way of making better use of the daylight in the evenings by setting the clocks forward one hour during the longer days of summer. In the United States, the time will fall back again on Nov. 1, 2015, when DST ends.

Since DST isn’t federally mandated, two states – Arizona and Hawaii – and four U.S. territories – American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands – don’t observe it. Indiana adopted DST in 2006.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING

From S. Ham: “I really do want to thank you for helping me out on a day where everything seemed to go the opposite of right – you sincerely did help me. Out of the many courier services that I called or researched, you were the only one that could truly help me. Thank you Vicki for assisting and working with me, you have no idea what that meant to me. I truly do appreciate just the simple assistance and kindness. I will certainly be using Blue Streak courier service again.”

FMA ANNUAL MEETING HELD IN ORLANDO

The Florida Messenger Association hosted their Annual Winter Meeting at the Orlando Doubletree Universal Resort in January. The conference began on a Friday afternoon where attendees were able to spend quality one-on-one time with vendors prior to the dinner reception and casino night. The Saturday agenda included two roundtable discussions where members discussed topics such as: overcoming funding needs, customer diversification, exit strategies, and standard operating procedures.

The day continued with vendor presentations as well as panel discussions with unique customers who offered insight for improved customer service. The FMA continues to refine the program for the winter meeting as a result of feedback from both member and vendor attendees. As always, the FMA leads the country when it comes to state association activities.

FUEL SURCHARGE TO INCREASE SLIGHTLY IN MARCH

Because of an increase in fuel surcharges in the past month nationwide, Blue Streak’s fuel charge will increase slightly to 3.5% in March. Our fuel surcharge continues to be among the lowest in the region.

How it’s calculated: If the national average price of regular unleaded fuel* is above $1.79 during the last week of any given month, the surcharge will be in effect on the first day of the following month.

*As reported by the US Department of Energy.
